SOAP - Unfit?

Luke 9:62 "But Jesus said to him, "No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God."

Jesus wants you to follow with abandon. Verse 58 speaks of not being worried about physical needs like where you will sleep. Verse 59 speaks of not being bound by the needs of others that are not your responsibility. Verse 61 also speaks of not being worried about the pressure that might come from those who would not understand your surrender to Christ

Make a 'once for all' decision. Don't look back for in your looking back the furrow you plow will be crooked. I wonder how much of my focus is not straight ahead.

Lord, Keep me single minded! Keep my hand on the plow. Tune my ears to hear Your will and simply follow You. Amen.

  1. I was intrigued by your interpretation of the verses; I had to look them up again as I sure didn't recall them saying what you wrote...but now I can see and understand your interpretation. This makes it so hard for me....how can a service oriented person "not be bound by the needs of others"?? But then, that is just a cop out, I suppose...I know I am really a terrible enabler for folks around me...I allow myself to be manipulated by them, and some really pick up on my willingness to "please". It is hard not to be so, I was so rejected and unwanted as a kid growing up. This is really helping me to take a new look at myself and what makes me tick...or not tick...as it might be!
Lord, help me to just follow your lead in all things and not let myself be manipulated by the desires of others.
